The Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission's innovative marketing campaign is a public service message reminding all of us to participate in our local arts scene.

Strategically, the public service campaign is multi-faceted in approach and designed to appeal to a broad audience. The creative message is simple and bold—ARTS. OPEN DAILY. The Arts Commission  set out to create a message that was easy to assimilate and retain, but also highlighted the local arts scene. The print ads and billboards include a revolving series of Sacramento arts group’s photos to enhance the local appeal. The campaign is somewhat reflective of the “Got Milk?” marketing approach.

This message is spread through a variety of outreach activities including print and electronic media, internet, arts groups, and special events. In fact, the Arts Commission planned several collaborative special events for the launch month of September ‘09 including an edible walking tour entitled “Eat Your Art Out” in the mid-and-downtown areas.

Another aspect of this arts outreach campaign is the development of the entertainment web site, Sacramento365.com. It is one of the most comprehensive arts and cultural listings for the region. In addition to initiating the Sacramento365 website, the Arts Commission also updated their website and general information to create a greater understanding of the agency.

In fact, the Arts Commission has several programs within the agency designed to stabilize and further the arts in Sacramento. They include: Arts Education, Grants and Cultural Programs, Art in Public Places, and Arts Marketing and Cultural Tourism.
